Research Interests:
At the beginning of my real research, I studied the blood-compatible materials. It was the first time in the world that my Chinese group developed cholesterol liquid crystals to improve the blood-compatibility with a Biomimetic method, and we achieved good results. Later my research has being focused on bone tissue engineering scaffolds, especially the bio-hybrid and composite materials. We selected the materials from polylactide (PLLA, PLGA etc.) and natural polymers (Chitosan, hyaluronate and alginate, etc.) and bioceramics (HA, TCP etc.). Plasma grafting was used to modify the scaffolds. The structure of the scaffolds is also a very important research topic. Particle leaching, supercritical fluid technique (SCFT) and rapid prototyping (RP) methods have being applied.
