Beyond the 8 main Biomaterials groups, researchers conduct independent and/or collaborative research centred on specific biological and bioinspired materials and scientific questions. Often combining advanced methods of analysis and imaging, including contemporary microscopy, image analysis, spectroscopy, radiography and interferometry, these researchers collaborate with group leaders and students within the department of Biomaterials and with external institutes. Research topics vary, and include structure and function of plant and animal fibres found in various tissue arrangements.
