Prof. Dr. Helmuth Möhwald, Director at the Max Planck Institute of Colloids and Interfaces in Potsdam, obtained the degree of doctor honoris causa from the University Montpellier, the oldest university of France.

On 7th of April 2008 the diploma was handed over to Prof. Dr. Helmuth
Möhwald by the president of the University Montpellier. Academy member
Prof. R. Corriu celebrated the laudation and additional speeches were held
by the rector of the French Academy of Sciences and the head of the atomic
energy centres (CEA). The Max Planck Institute of Colloids and Interfaces
cooperates since years with the University of Montpellier and maintains an
associated European laboratory with the newly founded CEA institute for
separation chemistry (ICSM).
