The Department of Sustainable and Bioinspired Materials (Director Prof. Dr. Silvia Vignolini) at the Max Planck Institute of Colloids and Interfaces in Potsdam, Germany, invites applications from outstanding young scientists for the position of PhD student (m/f/d) on bioinspired photonic pigments.

We are looking for a highly motivated Ph.D. student in the field of nanomaterials derived from natural resources. The candidate should have a degree in Chemical Engineering, Material or Natural Sciences, or closely related fields, with an outstanding profile, a strong background, and interests in

  • Fractionation of Lignocellulosic Biomass
  •  Extraction techniques from biomass
  • Preparation of cellulose- and lignin-based materials
  • Optical characterization

The position will be in the BioProducts Engineering group.

The position is available starting in early 2023.
