DESCRIPTION:This lecture will describe my lab’s inroads in non-equilibriu
m systems. Using large peptide rings\, we have investigated the “butterf
ly effect” that occurs when a small change at a given position of a mole
cule results in disproportional consequences at distal positions. Building
on these findings\, we have developed the dominant rotor concept\, which
allows us to create systems with unusual 3D shapes. Our work underscores t
hat operations away from equilibrium offer a possibility to control comple
 x molecules.\nVortragender: Andrei K. Yudin
