Main Focus

I am particularly interested in:

  • Developing a sustainable approach to produce colloids using side-stream hemicelluloses
  • Understanding the structural assembly of hemicellulose molecules and the formed colloids
  • Exploiting hemicellulose-derived colloids for untapped functional materials

Curriculum Vitae

Runzhu Gong is a PhD student in the Department of Sustainable and Bio-inspired Materials, headed by Prof. Silvia Vignolini, at the Max Planck Institute of Colloids and Interfaces.

Runzhu pursued her master's degree under the guidance of Professor Bin Li at the Qingdao Institute of Bioenergy and Bioprocess Technology, Chinese Academy of Sciences. Her research centered on establishing a fractionation method, i.e., molten salt hydrates, to achieve clean fractionation of biopolymers from lignocellulosic biomass.

In March 2024, Runzhu began her PhD studies in the Department of Sustainable and Bio-inspired Materials at the Max Planck Institute of Colloids and Interfaces.
