Aparna Manoj
Main Focus
I am interested in exploring the formation, structure, and mechanism of natural adhesives in marine organisms.
I am particularly interested in:
- The structural and chemical principles of underwater adhesion in marine organisms
- Translating biological insights into sustainable adhesive systems
Curriculum Vitae
Aparna Manoj is a PhD student in the Department of Sustainable and Bio-inspired Materials, headed by Prof. Silvia Vignolini, at the Max Planck Institute of Colloids and Interfaces.
Aparna obtained her Integrated BS-MS degree in Chemistry from IISER Bhopal, India, under the supervision of Prof. Apurba Lal Koner. Her Master’s research focused on the design and synthesis of a fluorescent basedfluorescent-based small-molecule probe for detecting hypoxic cancer cells. In July 2025, she joined the Department of Sustainable and Bio-inspired Materials at the Max Planck Institute of Colloids and Interfaces as a PhD researcherstudent.
