Projects and Collaboration
1. DFG (German Science Foundation)
At present there are two projects running in the framework of the DFG Cluster Program SPP 1273 "Kolloidverfahrenstechnik", having the titles
"Charakterisierung von Grenzflächen zwischen zwei Flüssigkeiten unter hoch-dynamischen Bedingungen"
and
„Thermodynamisch stabile Pickering-Emulsionen“
In the framework of the Cluster Program SPP 1506 “Transport Processes at Fluidic Interfaces” we run a tandem project entitled
“ Experimental and Computational Analysis of fluidic interfaces influenced by soluble surfactant”
as cooperation with the group of Dieter Bothe at the Center for Smart Interfaces (http://www.csi.tu-darmstadt.de) in Darmstadt.
2. DFG/AiF Clusterproject "Simulation of Protein Foams"
In this framwork we run in cooperation with group of Wolfgang Peukert, Department of Chemistry- and Bioengineering at the University Erlangen-Nürnberg a tandem project. The title of the project is: "Einfluss von Proteinen auf die Schaumbildung und Schaumstabilität"
3. DLR (Deutsche Luft- und Raumfahrt)
The German Space Agency (DLR) supports our work on dynamics at liquid interfaces, which is also subject of the FASES project with ESA. The project includes experiments at the Drop Tower in Bremen (http://www.zarm.uni-bremen.de/). The title of the project is
„Experimentelle und theoretische Untersuchungen zur Bildung und Deformation von Einzeltropfen als Modell für Schäume und Emulsionen“
4. ESA Projects
Research project FASES (Fundamental and applied study of emulsion stability/destabilisation)
This project has been selected by the ESA commission for support. Groups involved are from Compiégne, Florence, Genoa, Golm, Madrid, Marseille, Paris and Thessaloniki. Tasks of this project are studies of the dynamics of interfacial layers and liquid films, and diluted and concentrated emulsions. Experiments are designed that make use of the particular environment of microgravity. Thus drainage of liquid films and creaming of emulsions is almost excluded. The project has been prolonged until 2014.
