The mission of the International Office at the MPI of Colloids and Interfaces is to provide support and services to students, scientists and visiting scholars who are coming from abroad.
The International Office serves as a first point of contact for newcomers. During the initial period we assist with the following services:
- assistance applying for a residence permit
- assistance with health insurance matters
- renting an apartment provided by the Max Planck Institute
- assistance with filling in German forms related to your stay at the Max Planck Institute
We encourage you to visit our office and use our services at any time during your stay. We wish you an enjoyable stay and much success!
Apply for a visa at the German embassy in your home country. Please allow several weeks for your visa to be processed. Important: Do NOT

You do not need a residence permit, if you are a citizen of the European Union. If you stay in Germany for more than 90 days, you need to apply for a residence permit in the local Foreigners Office (“Ausländerbehörde”). [more]
