YOUR LIBRARY MORE THAN JUST BOOKS

A key aspiration of the Max Planck Society is to make its scientists’ research findings available for the benefit of all of humanity, free of charge. We therefore support open access publishing.
Thus the MPS has provided a central budget for open access charges and already offers many journals where our scientists can publish open access without extra costs. For a list see here:

During an initial period of 12 months (2014.12 till 2015.12), almost 13.000 Elsevier eBooks from more than 20 subject areas are accessible in all Max Planck Society institutions via the MPS eBooks catalog.
At the end of this initial period, those eBooks which have been most often accessed will be purchased and available for limitless use.

Since the beginning of the year, we have been receiving duplicates from a few journals, for instance “nature” and “NewScientist”. You can find them in our book swap, on the bottom shelve.
