IMPRS Semester Scheduler

The curriculum of the IMPRS consists of scientific/technical courses, soft-skills and transferable skills courses, and internal workshops.

Materials science increasingly aims not only to understand existing materials but to develop – or in other words to design – entirely new ones. In-depth and consistent methodological approaches for this newly emerging field barely exist. In this context the lecture series aims to lay the methodological foundations for design in materials science. The lecture series will initially introduce interdisciplinary approaches to design, materials science and cultural science. [more]

Basic Statistics (Day 1/2)

IMPRS, Summer Semester 2023
This ten hour scratch course is thought for those who need a quick refresh or just get a prime in statistics before digging into a more detailed study. At the end of the course you will have seen and heard most of the important vocabulary in typical statistical analysis, including confidence intervals, hypothesis tests, p-values, linear regression, contingency tables, sample size estimation and power calculation, and ANOVA. Elementary knowledge of statistics helps but is not a requisite to participate. At the end of the course you will receive a copy of the lecture notes. [more]
