Innovative Heterogeneous Photocatalysis
Photocatalysis nowadays is considered as a powerful tool that enables chemical transformation with unprecedented yields and selectivity. The advantage of the photocatalytic approach compared to the traditional methods, those using chemicals or heating to activate chemical bonds, is not only improvement of the yields. A very selective cleavage of chemical bonds is possible. It could be accomplished combining the light of appropriate wavelength, i.e. photon energy, along with the specific photocatalyst.
